NAMI Family-to-Family Education Course

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session education program for family, friends, and, significant others of adults with mental health conditions. NAMI Family-to-Family provides information about anxiety, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions. Other topics covered include communication, problem solving, treatment, and recovery.
 
The course is designed to increase understanding and advocacy skills while helping participants maintain their own well-being. The program is taught by trained family members who have a loved one with a mental health condition. NAMI Family-to-Family is an evidence-based program. For information on the research base for the program, visit nami.org/research.
When: Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. from October 15th to December 10th with a week off for Thanksgiving. You should plan to attend all classes. No more than two absences are allowed.
Where: Virtual via Zoom. If you cannot access Zoom or the weekly PDF files of the handouts, please let me know so that we may discuss possible accommodations.

Do you ever feel alone in the world?  Coping with mental illness can be one of the toughest experiences one can endure.  NAMI New Orleans offers free, peer-led Family Support Groups that are open to any adult with a family member or loved one living with a mental illness.

In a support group, no one is alone.  Everyone has the opportunity to share their experiences with others in similar situations.  You may learn of new resources and gain knowledge and confidence in dealing with your loved one's mental illness.

This Family Support Group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. Register below to receive the Zoom/call-in information via email.

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session education program for family, friends, and, significant others of adults with mental health conditions. NAMI Family-to-Family provides information about anxiety, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions. Other topics covered include communication, problem solving, treatment, and recovery.

The course is designed to increase understanding and advocacy skills while helping participants maintain their own well-being. The program is taught by trained family members who have a loved one with a mental health condition. NAMI Family-to-Family is an evidence-based program. When: Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. from October 15th to December 10th with a week off for Thanksgiving. You should plan to attend all classes. No more than two absences are allowed.

Where: Virtual via Zoom. If you cannot access Zoom or the weekly PDF files of the handouts, please let me know so that we may discuss possible accommodations.

Who: Adults who have loved ones living with mental health conditions. Minors may not attend or be present. Your loved one living with a mental health condition may not attend or be present. Survivors of Suicide Loss is a free, peer-led support group for adults whose lives have been impacted by the loss of a loved one to suicide, whether recently or in the past.

The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Due to the spread of COVID-19 in our area, these will be video conference meetings held via Zoom until further notice. (Meetings are typically held in person at NAMI New Orleans' Uptown Office.)
