Peer Education and Support
NAMI New Orleans offers a variety of peer-led education and support programs to help adults who are living with mental illness work towards recovery and maintain wellness. These programs include two weekly Connection Peer Support Groups and our 10-week Peer-to-Peer education course. All programs are confidential and offered at no cost. NAMI Connection is a recovery support group for adults with mental illness, led by trained mentors who are personally experienced at recovery and living well with mental illness. Participants learn from each others’ experiences, share coping strategies and offer encouragement and understanding.
NAMI New Orleans offers one weekly Connection Support Groups:
Thursdays from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at 1538 Louisiana Ave. in New Orleans
Fridays from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at 2051 8th St. in Harvey

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, 10-session course for adults living with mental illness. NAMI Peer‐to‐Peer provides an educational setting focused on recovery that offers respect, understanding, encouragement and hope. The NAMI Peer-to-Peer education program is:
- Free and confidential
- Held once a week for two hours
- Taught by trained Peer Mentors living in recovery themselves
- A great resource for information on mental health and recovery

Thanks to a generous grant from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, NAMI New Orleans is offering free 1-on-1 education about schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder. These sessions are for adults living with these disorders, their loved ones, or both.
Receive resources, information, and practical suggestions for improving mental and physical health during an hour long in-person session or a 30 minute session over the phone. Sessions may be scheduled at your convenience between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
