Education & Support

Family Education and Support

NAMI New Orleans offers a variety of support programs for family members and caregivers of people living with mental illness.  These programs include three monthly Family Support Groups, our 12-week Family-to-Family and NAMI Basics education courses, and our Family Guide: A Roadmap to Resources and Support, which can be downloaded by clicking on the image to the right (or call our office at 504-896-2345 if you would prefer that we mail you a copy).  See here for more information about our family programs.

Peer Education and Support

NAMI New Orleans offers a variety of peer-led education and support programs to help adults who are living with mental illness work towards recovery and maintain wellness.  These programs include two weekly Connection Peer Support Groups and our 10-week Peer-to-Peer education course.  All programs are confidential and offered at no cost.  Click here for more information on each of our peer programs and feel free to call 504-896-2345 if you have any questions.

Advocacy and Community Education

NAMI New Orleans is committed to advocating for better lives for people living with mental illness and their family members.  We do this through advocating for legislation at the local, state and federal levels as well as through community education.  You can help by joining NAMI New Orleans as a member, attending or organizing a community presentation, signing up for legislative alerts, taking our NAMI Smarts for Advocacy training, or joining us for Behavioral Health Day at the state capitol in May.  Click here for more information about these programs.
