Family Education and Support
NAMI New Orleans offers a variety of support programs for family members and caregivers of people living with mental illness. These programs include three monthly Family Support Groups, a Survivors of Suicide Loss support group twice monthly, the 12-week Family-to-Family education course, 1-on-1 education about schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder, bereavement counseling for survivors of suicide loss, and our Family Guide: A Roadmap to Resources and Support, which can be downloaded by clicking here (or call our office at 504-896-2345 if you would prefer that we mail you a copy). Peer Education and Support
NAMI New Orleans offers a variety of peer-led education and support programs to help adults who are living with mental illness work towards recovery and maintain wellness. These programs include two weekly Connection Peer Support Groups , the 10-week Peer-to-Peer education course, and our Resource Guide: A Roadmap to Resources and Support for Persons Living With Mental Illness, which can be downloaded by clicking here (or call our office at 504-896-2345 if you would prefer that we mail you a copy). Advocacy and Community Education
NAMI New Orleans is committed to advocating for better lives for people living with mental illness and their family members. We do this through advocating for legislation at the local, state and federal levels as well as through community education. You can help by joining NAMI New Orleans as a member, attending or organizing a community presentation, signing up for legislative alerts, taking our NAMI Smarts for Advocacy training, or joining us for Behavioral Health Day at the state capitol in May.
