Peer Education and Support
NAMI New Orleans offers a variety of peer-led education and support programs to help adults who are living with mental illness work towards recovery and maintain wellness. These programs include two weekly Connection Peer Support Groups and our 10-week Peer-to-Peer education course. All programs are confidential and offered at no cost. NAMI Connection is a recovery support group for adults with mental illness, led by trained mentors who are personally experienced at recovery and living well with mental illness. Participants learn from each others’ experiences, share coping strategies and offer encouragement and understanding.
NAMI New Orleans offers two weekly Connection Support Groups:
Thursdays from 1:30 – 3 p.m. at 1538 Louisiana Ave. in New Orleans
and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at 2051 8th St. in Harvey

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, 10-session course for adults living with mental health challenges. NAMI Peer‐to‐Peer provides an educational setting focused on recovery that offers respect, understanding, encouragement and hope. The NAMI Peer-to-Peer education program is:
- Free and confidential
- Held once a week for two hours
- Taught by trained Peer Mentors living in recovery themselves
- A great resource for information on mental health and recovery
