Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation awards $3,000 to NAMI New Orleans’ MHNT Service
The Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation recently awarded NAMI New Orleans a $3,000 grant to fund the Mental Healthcare Navigation Team Service (MHNT). The MHNT is a free service offering information and support to individuals and families impacted by mental illness. Each year, the MHNT service receives nearly 800 calls, emails, and walk-ins from people struggling to find resources. Behavioral health providers, faith-based organizations, individuals living with mental illness, family members, and caregivers utilize the MHNT service. The MHNT staff and trained volunteers provide a sympathetic ear while helping callers navigate the often complex mental health system of care.
NAMI New Orleans is honored to receive funding from the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation to continue the MHNT service. Since 2014, the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation has been a strong proponent of mental health and the reduction of stigma associated with mental illness. NAMI New Orleans is honored to partner with the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation. To learn more about the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation, visit www.btdfoundation.org/.
