Bereavement Counseling For Survivors of Suicide Loss
Thanks to a generous grant from the Human Fund, NAMI New Orleans is now offering free bereavement counseling for adults who have lost a loved one to suicide (either recently or in the past).
As many sessions as needed with a licensed therapist in New Orleans, on the Westbank, or in Metairie.
Contact our Mental Healthcare Navigation Team Coordinator Gladys at 504-896-2345 or firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more or to schedule your first session.
About The Human Fund: The Human Fund was established from long time friendships and a tragedy. The fund was originally created among a close group of friends, including William “Wilkins” Kearney, but had no clear directive. After Wilkins died by suicide, the mission of the fund became clear—to prevent suicide and support those dealing with this difficult but increasing epidemic.
Other resources for survivors include the NOLA Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group that meets at the NAMI New Orleans Uptown office every second and fourth Wednesday.
COVID-19 UPDATE: In-person groups are suspended until further notice. Check our calendar for groups being offered via Zoom/over the phone.
NOLA Survivors will be on summer hiatus in July and August 2020. Meetings will resume in September.
