Mental Health Professional

NAMI New Orleans seeks a caring and meticulous team player for a full-time Mental Health Professional position. Essential Functions

  • Provide CPST and PSR services in the community and hold at least one PSR group at our Uptown location
  • Teach daily living skills
  • Document all billable services, assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic health record on the same day the service was rendered
  • Manage the Drop-In Center on Thursdays
  • Complete intakes on all new referrals
  • Coordinate appointments and accompany clients to appointments for medication injections

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Counseling

Housing Case Manager

NAMI New Orleans seeks a full-time Housing Case Manager. Duties include conducting intakes with new housing referrals for adults with chronic mental illness or co-occurring disorders and providing community-based services. Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Counseling
  • Previous experience with homeless populations (preferred). This job entails working with and transporting homeless individuals
  • Case management experience working with special needs populations

Other Requirements

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with insurance and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record check
  • Reliable transportation

Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Counselor

NAMI New Orleans seeks a part-time ADL Counselor for evenings and overnight shifts. Duties include demonstrating ADLs with new housing referrals at Womanspace, skills training, and mental health monitoring of residents. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Womanspace is a transitional shelter for women and transgender individuals of all genders who are chronically homeless and live with chronic mental illness or co-occurring disorders.   • High school diploma or equivalent

Internships


NAMI New Orleans accepts 1-2 interns a semester in the areas of social services, public health, communications, et. al. Opportunities best suited for undergraduate students. At this time, the agency cannot provide internships for social work, counseling, or any other degree that requires specialized oversight or direct interaction with clients.
